No matter the size of your business, the appearance of your company matters. Whether you’re a small independent store, or a large corporate office, the way in which your business premises looks to potential customers and clients can have a huge impact on how your business is perceived.

It can be an indicator of just how you pride your work and business and can shape the first impression that you give to customers and clients. But, how do you make your business more inviting and welcoming? Let’s take a look at 3 ways in which you can make your business premises more inviting.

Clean, Clutter-Free Spaces

If your guests, whether this be customers or clients, are welcomed into your business and are taken to untidy or unclean meeting or shopping spaces, then this can be a warning sign to your potential customers. Ensuring that your business is clean, neat and tidy is a simple way to make your business more welcoming to guests, but it can also have a significant impact on the productivity levels of your employees.

Be sure that meeting areas are consistently kept clean and are always ready to welcome clients and are free of clutter. One of the easiest ways to reduce clutter and mess in meeting areas or communal spaces is to simply reduce the amount of storage available in the space  – less storage means less room for people to leave stuff that they’re not too sure what to do with.

Create A Welcoming Atmosphere

Look at the area to which guests are first welcomed when they visit your business premises. Whether this is a reception area or lobby, there are many ways in which you can transform this space into something which is much more welcoming. In a lot of cases, small corporate spaces can appear cold and sterile but, with just a few changes, they can easily become warm, welcoming spaces which can help with the overall appearance and first impression of your business.

If you do have a lobby or reception space, make sure that there is always someone there to welcome guests and have a nice seating area for them to sit at if they are early. Scent and lighting are two of the most important things when it comes to creating a welcoming atmosphere, so ensure that the area is nicely lit and there are reed diffusers or plug-in diffusers to make the area smell nice. Ensure the area is clean and well decorated to also give a good first impression.

Use Nature To Add Colour

How does the outside area of your business look? If it’s a bit unkempt and grey then a tidy of the space plus the addition of some greenery can completely transform the space. If you have a car park, ensure this is regularly checked for litter and de-weeded, and with lawn space, you may want to look to hire a commercial gardener to keep this area in check throughout the year.

Inside, you should also consider adding plants and greenery within your business premises as this can evoke feelings of nature and can improve the atmosphere of your business space. Succulents and evergreen plants are low maintenance, but add colour and charm to a space. Flower arrangements in communal or lobby areas also add nice pops of colour and texture.

In some cases, it may be that your business premises needs more than just a freshen up to make it more inviting. It could be that the space doesn’t work for your business needs anymore, or you’ve expanded your team so the premises needs to be more functional. In this case, you may need to consider a commercial fit out to transform your current space, alongside the addition of new decor and furniture.
