When it comes to looking good as a male, your grooming habits are essential. As we head into the winter months, we tend to see a drop in men’s grooming essentials despite their importance. Our skin needs protection in winter as much as it does in summer, and a lot of men tend to neglect this. There are a lot of grooming tips that are not done at all or are not known to men, and they might just elevate your whole look and how you feel.

Grooming should be made a priority for men. If you are not a superficial person, you should not see male grooming as a negative thing. Seasonal depression during the fall seasons can get the better of us, and implementing self-care is a great way to avoid falling into a negative cycle. Caring for your skin and appearance is a healthy trait for anyone to have, and if you are a male looking for ways to elevate your grooming techniques then there are a few habits you might want to consider:

Thermal Clothing

An essential part of any grooming technique is dressing well, and during the winter months, it can be hard to find a balance between comfort and fashion. Dressing well is a form of self-care, and ensuring you have the correct thermal clothing to care for your health is a great place to start. If you are yet to gather your winter essentials, you should consider the layering technique. You will feel your warmest wearing thick cotton thermal underwear with an oversized mens hoodie, paired with some suitable winter boots. You will feel and look your best.

Facial Hair Care

Winter time means Movember, and it is time to grow out your facial hair. Facial hair is of course great for better insulation during the winter seasons, however, many men do not follow the correct beard maintenance during these months. In winter when everything is colder your beard is stripped of a lot of essential oils due to your pores shirking. We could recommend not shampooing your beard as much to retain the natural oils that keep your beard growing and healthy. Also, you should keep up your grooming routine and brush your beard daily.

Find Your Winter Scent

If you are someone who enjoys smelling good, you might consider finding your signature winter scent. Many different scents are ideal for seasonal purposes, for example in summer we would recommend fresh and exotic smells, whereas in winter the woody, oud scents are the favourite scents of the seasons.

Moisturise

Another grooming essential during winter is your moisturising routine. As mentioned, your skin during the winter months is stripped of its natural oils therefore it is important to keep your skin hydrated at all times. This includes the skin on your whole body and not just your face or what is on show. Moisturising will prevent any cracked skin, and you overall will maintain healthy skin throughout the freezing months.
